Chimney Caps Listed below are some of the reasons your chimney needs a chimney cap.
A Chimney Cap Keeps Out the Rain
Though not the only reason to install a chimney cap, most uncapped chimneys more than five years old usually have some type of water damage. You can this yourself by using a screwdriver to lightly scrape the mortar between the bricks at the rear of your fireplace. If this results in some crumbling of the mortar, you just might have some water damage.

Ran can also contribute to bad odors in your chimney, and can also damage your damper.

A Chimney Cap Keeps Out Birds, Squirrels and other Animals
On occasion, birds may perch on your chimney and leave their droppings deposited on the smoke shelf of your chimney. Not only can this result in a terrible odor in your chimney, bird droppings are a haven for mites and bacteria. Squirrels and raccoons also love to get inside your chimney, with the result sometimes of them bearing their young on the smoke shelf.

A Chimney Cap Prevents Backpuffing
Backpuffing is when the fireplace smoke comes back down the chimney and enters your house. This is normally caused by backdrafts, and is obviously very annoying and messy.

A Chimney Cap Keeps Out Leaves
Leaves can accumulate in the flue and on the smoke shelf, sometimes resulting in a chimney fire.

Heat and water are the two main culprits behind damage to fireplaces and chimneys. A chimney cap will prevent most water damage, and we recommend a Heat Reflector (placed at the rear of your fireplace) to protect against heat damage.

We offer quite a few shapes and sizes of Chimney Caps. Below are a few examples of the types of Chimney Caps that we provide.
